The Holy Quran is the final testament and completion of the written communication from Allah (swt) to humanity. The Quran came to reaffirm the previous scriptures and to complete the Divine message in the final book form. According to Islam the previous scriptures, although originally Divinely inspired had been altered by mankind. The Quran is the only scripture which will be and always has been protected.

Quran 15-9: Surely we have revealed the reminder and We will most surely be its guardian.

There are many verses that can be presented and there are many repetitive notions presented in the Quran in order that humanity may absorb the depth of the message of the Quran.

Quran 15-1: Alif, Laam, Ra. These are the verses of the book and of a Quran that makes things clear.

The Quran is a book of guidance and light, like cold water for the thirsty. There are levels and layers and these become more apparent to the researcher the further they go along their path towards Almighty God. If we look from the safety of the shore towards the vastness of the ocean we appreciate the magnitude and power of that ocean. If we were to step in we would then appreciate the coolness and refreshing feeling of the water against our body, likewise the further we traverse into the Quran the more we will learn and appreciate about it. Although initially revealed in Arabic the Quran has since been translated into virtually all the languages of the world. There are many websites dedicated to the Quran and also it’s interpretation by qualified scholars. The Quran itself is its own miracle and it’s authenticity can be proven by its contents.

For example according to modern science we only discovered within the last couple of hundred years or so that each human being has a unique finger print. In fact studies have been done on identical twins, and although similar in so many ways, the finger tips are always unique to each person. It is also miraculous that if the skin of the fingertips was burnt away, the new skin that is formed afterwards once again replicates the original and unique fingerprint.

Quran 75-3&4: “Does man think that we shall not gather his bones? Yes indeed, being able to fashion [even] his fingerstip!”

The Quran is so eloquent that those who can understand Arabic are taken in with it’s beauty and depth, there are many cases during the Prophet’s(saaw) life where staunch opponents were rendered speechless and subsequently became Muslims after hearing verses of the Quran being recited.

Quran 4-82: Do they not then meditate on the Quran? And if it were from any other than Allah(swt), they would have found in it many a discrepancy.

As we can read from this verse above there are no contradictions in the Quran, any contradiction is in an individual’s lack of understanding. The Quran is also clear that it is a book of guidance and light for sincere truth seekers and for people of justice. If any opponent of the Quran wants to find a discrepancy they will, however as already mentioned it is not an actual contradiction but a misunderstanding on the individual’s part. For Muslims the Quran is honorable and should be respected on so many levels, but ultimately the greatest respect we can show to the Quran is to sincerely embrace what it is trying to awaken us to. Many new Muslims will only be able to initially read the Quran in their native language, but the depth of this book is such that simply listening to it is also a Divine Mercy bestowed upon us.

Quran 7-204: So when the Quran is recited, then listen to it and pay attention that you may receive Mercy.

There is much more to say but we feel it best left to the scholars and academics who have already thoroughly researched and presented their findings in their writings. Please find a very useful link to broaden your understanding much further on the the topic of the Holy Quran:  Click here:
